What should I expect from a Modern Mirth laughter session?
You can expect laughter exercises, not from jokes, but stemming from your breath. Yoga nidra (guided deep relaxation) closes out each session.
Do I need a yoga mat?
Unless specified, assume you don’t need a mat! This is not traditional posture/asana-based yoga. We call it yoga because laughter is joyful breathing, and breath/prana is at the center of yogic philosophy.
Do I need to prep my space in any way?
Ideally, you'd want some space to stretch out during laughter exercises, and a comfortable spot for yoga nidra.
What should I wear?
Whatever you’re comfortable in.
What if I’m not in the mood to laugh?
Well this is going to lift your mood, as long as you’re willing to allow it. Keep in mind that just smiling, even hearing other people laugh, has clinically shown healthy effects on the brain.
Will I get sweaty?
That depends on the intensity of your laughter and the climate where you're calling in from!
I have a health condition…should I still try this?
Laughter is actually a powerful natural complement to Western medicine, but exercise caution should you need to refrain from any form of aerobic exercise.
